Why Certification?

There are thousands of communications products made by hundreds of manufacturers around the world. They include everything from standard phones to hand phones, pagers to computer modems, faxes to switchboards. The list is endless. It grows every day.

Many of these products are not made for Indonesia and thus are not suitable for use here. Some will not work altogether; other may cause interference in radio communications equipment or the telecommunications network, affecting the quality of transmission and reception.

That is why certification is important – to ensure that equipment will work properly without causing interference when it’s connected to Indonesia’s network. Certification also means you can choose from a wide range of products and be sure they are suitable for Indonesia because they meet Indonesia Standards.

What happens when the equipment is not certificated?
Because certification is given before products are marketed, all approved products carry approval labels. If there is no label, you should not buy that product. It could be a prohibited model. The danger is that the prohibited products may interfere with i.e. the cellular networks, causing interference to other user’s hand phones.
